Welcome to Step off the Scale (New Podcast!)
Hey there! I’m Ashlee Wright, your host, and I’m so excited to welcome you to the very first episode of Step Off the Scale. If you’re tired of the constant food guilt, diet drama, and obsessing over the number on the scale, you’ve come to the right place. This podcast is a safe space where we’re not going to tell you to count your macros or almonds—nope, we’re not about that life.
If you’re looking for a place where we focus on feeling good in our bodies, embracing food freedom, and letting go of guilt, then buckle up, because we’re diving in!
My Journey: From “Ashlee’s Losing Weight Plan” to Food Freedom
Let me take you back to my college days—yep, I used to have a sign on the back of my door that said Ashley’s Losing Weight Plan. I thought that would be my key to “fitting in” and feeling better about myself. Looking back, I can’t help but laugh at how crazy that was. I mean, I wasn’t even the popular skinny girl, but there I was, obsessing over calories and workouts.
Every time I saw that sign, I would think about how little I’d done to actually make progress. I’d feel miserable about my food choices and body image. Finally, I reached my breaking point. I ripped that sign off the door and tore it to shreds, and you know what? I’ve never looked back.
Of course, I still have days where I think, “Maybe I should lose a few pounds,” or when my jeans feel tighter than I’d like, but those thoughts don’t control me anymore. The key to real freedom is learning to manage those thoughts and feel better in our skin, one step at a time.
The Real Work: More Than Calories and Carbs
As a dietitian for the past 14 years, I’ve seen so many women beat themselves up over food, and I knew I had to do something differently. Yes, I’m a weight loss expert, but I’ve come to realize that real success isn’t about obsessing over calories or carbs—it’s about our relationship with food. If you try to build a house on a shaky foundation, it’s going to fall, right? The same goes for our health. The foundation is the mindset, and that’s what we’re going to build here.
Why This Podcast Exists
I’m here to help you break free from dieting and stop the obsession with the scale. This podcast isn’t about shrinking your body—it’s about helping you feel GOOD in your body. We’re going to stop thinking about food 24/7 and get rid of the all-or-nothing mindset that keeps us trapped in guilt. And we’re going to do it without cutting out the things you love, like bread or Sour Patch Kids (trust me, I love them too).
I’m going to give you real, actionable tips you can actually use to enjoy your food again and feel confident in your own skin. No more rules—just freedom and balance.
Who This Podcast is For
This podcast is for the woman who knows what she should be eating but just can’t seem to stick to it. It’s for the mom who’s hiding from the camera at her kid’s birthday party because she doesn’t love how she looks. It’s for the woman with a pantry full of 100-calorie diet snacks who still feels like she’s failing. If you’ve ever googled how to get back on track after overeating over the weekend or a vacation, you’re in the right place.
We’re going to talk about all of it—the emotional eating, the inconsistency, and everything in between. I promise, we’re going to find a better way, together.
